I have read through a variety of posts and some say that you should not buy applecare until just before your one year free warranty runs out as the three years warranty starts from when you buy applecare

A couple of other posts say that you get three years from the purchase of your product so in fact if you wait a year you are only getting two additional years for your money

Help...Which is correct - do i get three years from the time i buy applecare or does it only last until the product is three years old

Also in the Uk applecare costs £139 as opposed to $169 in the States - can i claim an ism for this - ie racism, countryism, englishism!!!!!!!!

That's right. As long as you purchase Applecare before the first year expires you are buying two additional years for a total maximum of three from the date of purchase.

You can buy on the first day you purchase, yes, or the last day before your one year warranty expires, it makes no difference. But I wouldn't leave it to the last minute. If you want it just buy it now. Who knows, it could cost more in 11 months time.

It doesn't matter which date you purchase the Applecare as long as it is within
the first year of the original warranty, but if you purchase it with the
Mac you will get a whole three years of free technical support. Or else you
will have to pay a fee after the first 90days of free support.
