Configd Wants to Connect to Wireless Network Server

Hi,
When I'm on the road, I often connect to wireless networks in truck stops, or motels. Occasionally, I'm notified via LittleSnitch that configd wants to make a UDP connection to the server associated with some of these networks, on port 67. I'm just wondering what's going on.

configd (short for configuration daemon) is a program on your computer that maintains certain system parameters. In this case, I think that it is requesting the internet status. That is it is calling to the local server (router) to check or initiate a request for an IP number via DHCP. For more information open Terminal and type "man configd". If you block or deny this request, it is unlikely that you will be connected to the internet at that location.
