Using MBOX 2 with Logic Pro 8.

Go to Preferences/Audio/Core Audio and set the Device to the MBox2.

The tutorial you are looking for is called the Getting Started Guide which came with Logic and explains audio and MIDI hardware setup as well as the basics of using Logic.

You should contact Digi about the power issues.

When I switched from PC/Pro Tools LE to iMac/Logic, I tried to work with my MBox2 but gave up. It's just not well suited for working with Logic. I bought the Duet for $500 and it works great and sounds much better than the MBox2. Better pres and converters. I'll upgrade to an Ensemble soon, but for $500, if all you need is two channels, the Duet is a great way to go. Also, latency is much better with Duet than with MBox, at least in my experience. I keep my buffer at 256 and can barely discern latency at all while getting all the plug-in power I need. If I need to truly knock out latency, I can still go down one or two more buffer sizes.

My Mbox2 works fine with Logic. I went from PT LE on my mac to Logic just fine, i didnt have to worry about CoreAudio Drivers....etc. It just worked.

Don't think going to Ensemble is an "upgrade" in quality. Just more I/O...same converters and pres.

Agreed, as far as sound quality, but in addition to more channels, Ensemble does have other features not included with Duet. I'm glad to know some people have managed to get the MBox working smoothly with Logic. I still prefer Apogee for sound quality, ease of integration, and latency, but I'm glad to know if I need to resurrect my MBox, it can be done. I don't know why mine didn't seem to want to cooperate with Logic. Maybe I missed something in the setup process.

Hi, saw your posting on the forum and was glad to hear that you got Logic Studio running with the Mbox 2 Pro. I am going to switch from Pro Tools to Logic today and was hoping that i could still use my M Audio gear instead of paying for new interface hardware. eventually i would like to get the Duet for portability.

any words of advice or caution regarding using this set up? I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard and my Mbox 2 pro is less than a year old. I am not particularly adept/patient at troubleshooting so i want to make sure this is an easy to use solution.

I use an MBox2 Pro, works great tho the latency is worse in Logic than PT. Do NOT use the power supply with the MBox 2 unless using a laptop.

The MBox2 Pro is a nice little interface and can run core audio apps (Logic, iTunes, etc) and PT at the same time!
