Does iChat work with Yahoo Messenger?

I'm looking to add a buddy to my list that has a "Yahoo ID", how do I go about getting connected with him?

No iChat doesn't work with Yahoo messenger. You can get a Yahoo id of your own and download their app or use something like Adium so you can have both your Yahoo account and iChat account in one place.
