iPod nano 3g case or skin necessary?

Hello. I just purchased a silver ipod nano (4gb) and was wondering if it’s absolutely necessary to place a case, or silicone skin on it to prevent excessive scratching. I purchased a skin, but there’s no covering on the screen, but wanted to leave one off I could. Arent the new screens made of glass?

Thanks!

Hello woktrr,
Congratulations on your new iPod Nano. I prefer the same thing you you do; just the iPod and no case. I happen to use the Apple iPod Socks as a cover when I shove my iPod in my pocket. However, if you don't use ANY case and just put the iPod in your pocket, it would be okay. Just make sure you do not put keys, a cellphone, large wallet or any hard object in there. I hope this helps.

P.S. Only the iPhone and iPod Touch screen is made of glass. The iPod Nano and iPod Classic have a plastic screen. Which, I prefer because if you drop the iPod the screen will not break and it is lighter.

I definitely just want to agree with Superhamster. I have a 2nd gen iPod nano, and it's almost a year old. I never put it in a pocket with keys or spare change, and I don't throw it into my purse or anything. It doesn't have a scratch on it, even without a case.

I know some people are more comfortable with a case, just "in case" (har har!) but if you're careful with the iPod, you shouldn't have any worries!

Cheers!
