Titanium Onyx Issue

Hello everybody its been more than 6 months I want to fix my old powerbook, but cant find the way, hope you guys help me. My problem started when installed a new HD so when I tried to install the Macos X the CD tray didnt didnt swallow the CD, so I cant restart from the CD to install the OS. I tried with a external CD driver thorugh fwire but no succes, any ideas? please! How do i fix the CD drive? how do i access the HD from another computer to install the OS?... any ideas i will appreciate much!
