ntpd/ntpdate throwing errors

Hi,

I know I shouldn't be doing this, but I've been looking at the Console lately and I've noticed that ntp and ntpdate are throwing some errors into the log regularly.

I've added a number of ntp servers to ntp.conf, but the system keeps complaining it can't find any of them.

My Mac connects to the internet wirelessly via a Linksys router. There is also a Windows computer connected through the same router (wired). The Windows computer has absolutely no problems connecting and synchronising with any of the ntp servers configured on my Mac. The wireless internet connection is perfect. No complaints there.

What I've tried sofar.
In System Preferences switched off automatic syncing. Then in the Terminal start 'ntpdate -v'. It had no problems whatsoever to sync with time.nist.gov.
In System Preferences switched on auto syncing. The messages in the log returned.

What puzzles me when looking at the log, is that despite the fact that both ntp and ntpdate complain that they can't connect to a server, once in a while the clock is adjusted and sofar the system seems to remain in sync...

Anyone can explain what's going on?

Here's part of the log (filtered on "ntp"):
