Converting 59.94fps to 24fps

That's a hard one.

I'd test it out in Shake if you have it or have access to it.

I'd test it out by shoving it into a 23.98 sequence with a crowbar and see if you can live with the results.

I'd see if compressor can do it by creating fields giving you 30fps interlaced and then use Nattress.com's standards converter. It works best by using 30i and converting it to 24.

Either way it isn't going to be good.

The DVCProHD Frame Rate converter tool in Final Cut Pro is for exactly the task you want to do.

It's really simple to use - when it works, which isn't always.

An alternative is to use CinemaTools to do it. Just copy your 59.94 media file, open the copy in Cinema Tools, and conform it to 23.98fps. It happens in an instant. Try it.

-- Of course, what you get when you do what I just suggested is 60fps slo-mo footage. If that is NOT what you want, then you should be able to speed it up again after the conversion. If you need motion blur, I recommend Graham Naetress' Standards Conversion plugins, G Film Converter.

THe frame rate converter will either do slow motion, or normal motion. It is in the options. I have a tutorial for the slow motion aspect here:
