Can I delete the "Printers" Folder in my Library?

I generally agree with "I." Deleting system files can cause problems. One way of accomplishing that is to do a custom install (archive and install from where you are) and deselect the drivers that are not relevant (however, that would be time consuming). An A&I also creates a rather large +"previous system"+ folder that could be deleted after the process is successfully completed.

If you really want to try, move the folders you wish to trash (do not dump it yet!). See if your system behaves normally. If it does, i think you could then empty the trash to free space. I would NEVER make system changes without a good backup/restore process in place. In my case, I use both Time Machine and SuperDuper (for bootable clones).

Every time I get a new box or reinstall the OS I trash ALL the printers, the Japanese dictionary, Garage band, iDVD themes etc. all in all probably around 20GB and never ever had any issues with it.
Printers come with CDs and latest drivers are on their websites, why would you keep drivers for printers which you'll never ever buy?
An ????? software engineer told me the drivers are there to keep folks amused with "it just worked!" trick.

In fact you could also get rid of Alex, who sounds nice, but how often do you really listen to him?

I wouldn't recommend you mess in files in your library folder. It is there for a reason, so don't do anything funny to it.

I've deleted all 3rd party folders except for the printer I'm using: hp, both in the /Library/Printers folder and the PPDs subfolder. You can always reinstall them.

How do you reinstall them? Don't tell me that you have to do an archive and install. I would love to save some space too.

Use Pacifist to extract/install the appropriate manufacturer's set.
