FM Transmitter

Hey there. No you can't use anything accessory that used the little port next to the headphone jack on the top of the unit. I suppose it because Apple wants you to buy new accessories as new units come out.

I disagree. There's plenty of other accessories that have worked multi-generation. My best guess is that for whatever reason, it was necessary to change the jack placement for the new design. So, of course, accessories that depend on the jacks being where they were won't work.

When a new car requires different parts and accessories because the design has changed, I don't hear people moaning.

Im going to have to sell my itrip to buy the new one... but i hate that it goes on the bottom because you can't charge it then

Yeah, I agree. I have the iTrip and the Logitech Bluetooth headphones. I would not be able to use either one with the new 5th Gen iPod. I also have the Bose iPod Dock, and I am not sure that would work with the new iPod either. My son just got the new iPod though, and it is pretty cool I have to admit.

on the subject of FM transmitters, are there or will there be any on the market, which also transmit RDS signals. My car radio autodisplays the available channels via their RDS name, and it would be cool if a transmitter existed that broadcast an iPod or iTrip signal.
