Ipod doesnt work

Hi my Ipod Nano was in my jeans and went through the washing machine at first it didnt work at all and then i put it in a dry place for a few days then turned it on and it worked for a bit then died i then plugged into my computer for a about an hour and then disconnected it and i played a song for about 30 seconds and then it faded out and died. I have tried to reconnect a few times but still same result. Is there any way to fix it?

One extra thing it works perfectly fine when it is on charge and i can play songs fully....
