Keeping stickies on the desktop

There are a few sticky notes I want to keep on my desktop when I restart my computer. I've put stickies in the startup items preferences, but it only launches stickies - not the actual notes. How do I launch stickies at startup AND show the stickies I'd like shown on the desktop. Thanks.

From Application/Applescript, open Script Editor
copy and paste the following three lines

tell application "Stickies"
launch

end tell

Save as Application. Name it OpenStickies. Save location in Scripts. Locate it in the Finder.

Open System Preferences > Accounts > YourAccountName> Log In Items
Drag OpenStickies into the Log In Items window.

Close System Preferences and you're done.

Stickies should still work that way in Leopard. It does for me.

It's possible that the Stickies Database (the file where all the information is kept) is corrupted.

First, copy off any information in your Stickies notes into some other document, such as a TextEdit file. Quit Stickies. Then, find this file

<your user folder>/Library/StickiesDatabase

and move it to your Desktop (or any other location). Stickies should create a new StickiesDatabase file when you create a new note. See if it now opens notes automatically when you quit and then reopen Stickies, as it should.

I don't think you could spell it out any better. But for my sake, could you please try. I followed the directions the best I could and when I restarted my computer, all that launced was Script Editor with the pasted info in it. I'm with you through the copy and pasting in Script Editor. I guess I just got a little confused when it comes to the saving part of it all. Specifically, the save as an application and save location in scripts. How do you complete these two steps? I see that there are several drop down menus. Please help if you can. Thank you.
