Install PC programs with VMWare

Question

Install PC programs with VMWare

How do I install Windows programs on my XP install in VMWare? I can't seem to figure out how to accomplish this.

I can either plug an external DVD into the MacBook Air or use Remote Install but I can't seem to get Windows to recognize it?

Mac OS X 10.5.4
1.6
2 GB memory

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 5 gig RAM

Are you using the Superdrive that's made for the MBA? Other USB CD ROM drives won't work, I'm told. After you start Windows you'll see a disc icon in the lower right corner. If you mouse over it, it will say "Configure this virtual machines CD/DVD device". Click on that and you will have access to the drive. Don't forget to eject the CD from the virtual machine before you shut down Windows.

I don't have a SuperDrive. I just have a 3rd party DVD burner.

I did solve the problem over in the VMWare forums. All you do is plug in the drive, start VMWare, Virtual Machine > CD/DVD.

After that, it will work like a normal CD/DVD
