iWeb maximum page size?

Hi all,

I'm just starting to experiment in iWeb and want to create a simple illustration portfolio site. I plan to have the main folio pages as long format pages, some 700 pixels wide X 20,000 pixels tall, so avoiding having thumbnail areas and keeping everything very simple.

I can't seem to find a way of creating an iWeb page any bigger than 4000 pixels wide or tall.

Is there any way of overcoming this or is it back to the steep learning curve of Dreamweaver CS3...?

Any pointers would be great.

Kind regards,

YZ

Please don't make a page 4000px wide it would be horrendous, horizontal scrolling is dislike by most people. There was a thread on here re optimum page widths, I would suggest no more than 1024 pixels wide but bear in mind that some people have smaller screen resolutions. You can change the width and length of pages in the inspector panel.

Why do people always mention Dreamweaver when it gets complicated? Because they are easily impressed with the sales talk?

You can do the same in texteditor. But that is not the professional's choice.

4000 pixels wide is about 2 24" monitors next to each other.

To increase the default max height of an iWeb page, add a texbox and move it down beyond the 4000pixels perimeter.

You can also publish the page and open it in a HTML Editor. You can spend $600 first if you think Dreamweaver will do it.

Then go to the bottom of the page and find a line like this:

<div style="height: 4000px; line-height: 4000px; " class="spacer"> </div>

Change the numbers.

BTW, there is no learning curve in Dreamweaver to open a file.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

Hazell: I plan on the web folio page being scroll down rather than scroll across. I don't like acroll across w sites either, they just seem clumsy. Clean uncluttered scroll down folio sites work quite well when they keep things simple (IMHO).

Wyodor: The use of the text box seems to work just fine. Thanks for the info. Re Dreamweaver. Being very new to web site design I was under the impression that Dreamweaver was considered the industry standard? If not then what is the best web design software to use.... Freeway, iWeb, GoLive, Dreamweaver, or something else. They are the main Mac friendly ones that I have heard of.

Kind regards.
