Playing .DAT files?

I was trying to open a movie file with an extension .DAT, it was working fine with another CD but now when i put the disc 2 , it says , it is not a movie file. Input / Output error occurred. I have flip for mac , divx and other components installed on my mac for QT, but it still does not work. Any help for the same as i have got a movie (original / Copyright) and would like to see it.
Please advice.

If the DAT file is from a VCD as they often are, and with a name like AVSEQ001.DAT just rename the file to whatever filename makes sense and an extension of .mpg

So AVSEQ001.DAT becomes, say JoesCatWilbur.mpg

VCD DAT files are MPEG-1 muxed video. Drag them off the CD and then rename and play off the hard drive.

Duh! I just figured out what is wrong!

This Topic was not marked as a question.

Sir,

You can also see that this question was put forward by me but i am not able to mark it answered. I have just checked here on the fourm , and its not marked as question!!!! Their is no symbol against the post.
