I just purchased an iHome speaker for my 3rd generation ipod. I am about to sell it and then buy a the 5th generation ipod, and I am wondering if the iHome will work the new ipod. It is compatible with the 4th generation ipod, but I am not sure if its going to work with the new model. Can any one help me?

Im guessing it will because the connection is the same for both and i just used my 4th gen usb connector to hook up my g5 and it worked like normal
Why wouldn't it work? The iHome uses the dock connector. The 5G iPod has a dock connector. I'm sure one of the template that came with the iHome would work well enough with the 5G or you could wait until they release a 5G template.
I was about to get the ihome. i'm probably get the video ipod and i want to know how the ihome really is in sound and stuff. some rumors are that the led light is to bright. is this true?
Check out this link Melinda Tillman, "iPod w/video works with Bose Sounddock", 11:04am Oct 19, 2005 CDT which confirms that the Bose speaker system works fine, so must be the same for iHome.
Hey for the ones who are having doubts about the iHome as a speaker system, it works amazingly well , the sound quality is awesome, and the display light is not that bright because it comes with a dimmer to control intensity. Regarding to the problem if the 5th gen iPod would fit on iHome's dock im in the same dilemma because i got a 3th gen iPod and im getting the 5th one. So the thing is: if the new iPod keeps the same dimensions as the old ones it should work perfectly. The 5thG iPod is 2.4" we just need to know how big are the old ones.
The ihome works great and like bruno said it does have a dimmer to control the light. What I also find neat is that you can connect any other portable music device! It has incredible sound!
Works fine. Have both - iHome and 60 G Video. Remote does not "turn off" 60 G for some reason when hooked into iHome cradle but my mini does. Also, you cannot fast forward video with iHome remote. Everything else works great. iHome--for the price--is a great investment. Impressed!!
ZEEYA, I checked the IHome website and it says the 5G will work but you have to buy an "Insert Cushion for iPod Video" as a seperate add on for $2.99 which is not available yet. Do you have this add on? If not, how well does your 5G fit? We have a 30G which I believe is slightly smaller then the 60G and I wonder if it will be loose.
Any update on this yet? I would like to know if the 5th Gen 60GB iPod video will fit correctly into the iHome.

Okay, for anyone still interested, I found the following page:
http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?productid=10016&deptid=1000&parentid=
which sells the inserts to the fit 5G iPods. Haven't tried them yet though...

I have a 20g iPod (a gift last Christmas, not sure which generation). I' trying to use it for "wake to ipod" alarm on my iHome unit. I set everything as directed but nothing happens. The instructions say to specficially turn off the iPod after setting the alarm which I do.
The alarm works fine as a buzzer also the radio as an alarm.
