Yellow tinted screen!

I have read many of the posts here on the yellow tinted screens. I got mine iPhone 3G a month ago. I have a yellow tinted screen. I had an anti glare screen protector, but I had to take it off. The screen darkening anti glare combined with the yellow tint made it too dark. I had to turn up the brightness way high to make it look decent which obviously compromises battery life. A friend of mine recently got a 3G and his screen didn't have the yellow tint. Side by side the yellow tint was highly noticeable. I have to admit some things look better with a yellow tint and some do not. Another thing that I noticed is that yellow tint turns to "sepia" if viewed from a slight angle from the top of the phone. Depending on the angle you vie the screen, TOP, BOT, LEFT or RIGHT, the screen looks considerably different. Depending on the angle you get a different look depending on the tint of your LCD.

I decided to make an appointment with a Mac Genius the other day. I got to the store a bit early to compare my phone with the other phones in the store. None of the phones in the store have a yellow tint. They all have a bluish tint like the original iphone. The mac genius looked at my phone, I described the screen differences to him and he basically said that there are two types of LCD's. Ones with yellow tint and ones with blue tint. I obviously have a yellow tinted LCD. He said there is nothing wrong with it and its not a defect. Not much else I could do. He said you have 30 days to return it if you don't like it. I got it from AT&T store and may consider that option. But there is no guarantee that I would get a blue tinted screen when I got another one. I'm surprised that apple is using screen that to me are significantly different. Side by side the difference is very obvious. I wonder if they are making an equal amount of both types of screens or if that is even considered. I realize that they have multiple LCD manufacturers and that there would be some differences but this to me seems significant. The genius took some notes on my account in case I had problems in the future but he said this was not and issue and they would not replace the phone.

I'm considering the options at AT&T but but I would probably have to pay a restocking fee if I returned it to get another one. And there is no guarantee that I would get a blue tinted screen.
