THE TOP RESET BUTTON ON MY PHONE IS EITHER JAMMED OR DUSFUNCTIONAL, CAN ANYONE TELL ME A WAY TO TURN MY PHONE OFF WITHOUT HAVING TO HOLD THAT DOWN?

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS, ITS IMPORTANT THAT I BE ABLE TO DO THIS!

    Unfortunately, that is the only way to turn off the phone, or to do the reset combination (home plus top button). The iPhone can't be turned off any other way, either through software or the hardware.

    FYI, all caps indicates shouting. I assume you didn't intend to shout at other iphone users who may help.

    The top button is the only way to turn of the iphone that I know of.

    It sounds like it is working like it is suppose to. Holding the button down for a few seconds turns the phone off. Just pressing it puts the phone into sleep mode.

    Is that how it is working for you?

    There is a way to put the iphone in "Sleep", or "standby" mode by going into settings and turning auto lock on.
    After a minute, the phone will lock and go into sleep mode.
    - You can still make and receive calls as well.
    - This lasts for 250 hours on your battery just in sleep mode.

    would it help you, if you just let the battery drain?
