While all iBook G4 keyboards are interchangeable within model screen sizes—that is to say, one fits all 12 inch models and another fits all 14 inch models—the iBook models based upon the G3 processor use several different keyboards. The key to determining which keyboard you use is knowing the last four digits of the serial number on the keyboard itself, not the serial number of your specific machine.

The key cap colors and interconnect cables vary between keyboards, however—that said—the mechanical key switch components and membrane technology used in them is virtually identical, so there is NO truth to the belief that the later keyboards are "… more stable and [the keys] less likely to fall off."

They don't 'fall' off, by the way: they are pulled off, and this doesn't occur in normal operation, so you might want to give some thought as to how you are handling your portable computer, and why this might be happening.
