iTunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Anyone get this error? It happened about 1 hour into a backup that was to precede a 2.0.2 s/w install.

I'm now getting this error every time. I believe the ^0 is supposed to be a variable.

I never got that specific variable, but i got it when i tired to do other things on itunes. Just don't touch the cord, and iPhone, then let it backup. When i did that, it worked great! The whole thing took a little more then a hour i believe.

Ok. Restart Your iphone. If you don't know just ask 🙂 Then try it. Sometimes You just need to restart to fix glitches.

I tried the restart several times. Tried rebooting my laptop. Tried rebooting my phone. Deleted all applications and backups.

I've tried other recommendations associated with slow backups in general as well.

I think it's almost time for a full restore.

Ok here's another trick. When clicking update, Press and hold your Home Button on the iPhone Until it reaches the backup part of the update. I've been told that does the trick. Technically your suppose to hold the power button for the whole thing. But That's just outrageous these days. As it's an over an hour to update my iPod Touch.

I am having this same problem when trying to upgrade from 2.02 to 2.1. I have tried everything that was suggested in this discussion. Does anyone else have any ideas?

BTW, I have downloaded the update and a dialogue comes up saying it is extracting the update. After that is finished another dialogue appears that says it is backing up my iPhone and a few seconds after that I get this error.

I haven't installed 2.1 yet but I had to wipe the iPhone completely.

The ^0 is a variable. For some people, the variable is populated with something like "contacts". That narrows down the problem and for them, if they wipe all contacts and then resync, all is well.

But since you have the ^0, it's unclear what the problem even is. I think it's safe to say that the Software got corrupted on your iPhone for whatever reason. I suggest you start from scratch with 2.1 and set your device up as a new phone.

I was also getting this problem for quite a while, just tried syncing again but kept a close eye on my progress bar. When it got to updating my photos it claimed the iphone was disconnected. so went to photos options and deselected sync photos and retried. Worked a treat. Simple fix for me but worth investigating before you fully wipe your phone

I have been having the exact same problem. It extracts the software, starts the backup, and then I get an error message: "iTunes could not sync... the iphone is disconnected." I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, restarting and restarting and restarting. Nothing works.
