Handbrake and H.264 problem

Hey, can anyone help me? I am using the latest Handbrake (0.7-beta 3) and when it encodes a video itunes is still giving me a non-compatible warning. I look at the info for the file and it says that it's encode properly and at the right size.

(H.264, 320x 144, millions, AAC, Stereo (LR),. 44,100 kHz, 23.98 FPS, Data size 818.22 mb, Data Rate 1047.33)

What am I doing wrong? I can re-encode the file using QT--which takes a VERY LOOOONG time and the file will then work perfectly. I figure I must have something set wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Read all the specs one of which limits the data rate to no more than 768kb/sec (for H264) vs. your 1047.33 which is nearly 50% too high. Read my tutorial and do that - to MPEG-4 at 30X the speed. 320 X 144 is an odd size. Why everyone is making these movies on H264 at the incredibly slow transcoding rate is baffling since MPEG-4 looks the same, is the same size and works so much faster.

I don't use these 'automatic" applications like Handbrake but I am puzzled why , if intended to encode for the iPod, that it creates files with too high a bitrate, seems very pointless to do that.

Note read my Tutorial Supplement I posted tonight. I have been noodling with Streamclip for my Epson P-2000, a "video iPod" with a BIG 4 inch screen and media card reader which explains why I won't be buying a iPod video any time soon.
