Lack of Recognition!

On connecting my 80GB i-Pod to i-Tunes I hear the double note sound indicating that new hardware has been identified. However - thats it User uploaded file
i-Tunes is not recognising my i-Pod. I have followed as best I can the trouble shooting guide to no avail. Any suggestions please.

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...
