Ipod Universal Doc with Remote Issue

Do you mean skipping a song doesn't work with your remote?
Do you have a Mac around on which you can test your remote, to see if all buttons are working?

I am also having the same problem. I have my iPod touch connected to my tv using the Apple Universal Dock and Component connector. I can control the volume, and the play and pause button works when a video is playing, but the fast forward, rewind, and menu buttons don't work at all. When I click on any of those, it just takes me back to the video list on the iPod, but then I lose the video signal to the tv, so I have to get up and click on a video to start it playing again. I've tried with 2 different remotes and it is the same issue with both of them. I think it might be an issue with my dock connector.

Interesting. I have a strange question: does you Universal Dock have a round IR receiver or a small, flat one, at the front?
If it's a round one, we could guess it's because it's supposed to work with older iPods, and the flat one is designed for iPods, iPod touches and iPhones. The pins in the Dock Connector are different.

Hmmm, good question. Its at home right now and I'm at work... I want to say that it is a flat receiver. I bought it with the iPod Touch, it came with about 8 different plastic pieces to fit a few different iPods, and it doesn't have the S-video connector in the back... just an audio out, and the same dock connector slot in the back which is hooked up to my component cable. It works with both my iPod Touch and iPhone 3G, it displays tv shows and movies perfectly on my tv, but it won't jump back and forth in my play list. I think I've got 3 or 4 different remotes lying around; I assumed that they were all the same, but is it possible that the remote that came with the dock is different than the remotes that came with the Mac Mini, MacBook, and MacBook Pro?

After testing several of them it looks like a "feature-not-a-bug" thing... Basically the remote can:
- go to the previous or next SONG
- control volume
- that's it.

However it can't:
- go to the previous or next video
- go back into menus like in Front Row, the video out of the iPod will only play when a video is playing on the iPod/iPhone, no menus go on the TV...

Does it match your experience?

Why don’t you go to the apple service centre I think they can tell you the proper thing what exactly the problem is

oops close ... but no cigar .., i have a new hdtv LG42" w/ all component input ports ... hooked up itouch, sound, no video, hooked up ipod classic, same problem ... hooked it up via old doc ... do not know if it is universal as it came with a 40Gig ipod about 5 years ago ... do i need a new 'universal' docking station .. or is there another problem, as i have gone all through the capabilities & programming possible on the hdtv ... help
