ATV not syncing any movies

For reasons unknown, when I sync my ATV all goes well except my movies won't sync. If I use the tick box for selected movies, then tick the ones I want and choose "APPLY" all I get is a quick sync and no movies transfered. If I use the tick box for "ALL" and choose "APPLY", ATV syncs only one (and always the same) movie and none of the others. BTW, that one movie is not ticked on my list.

TV shows etc. all sync properly. I have Factory re–set the ATV twice, as well as re–installed the 2.0 firmware and restarted my iMac.

***?

Also, because of the fac reset, I lost 2 rental movies that I had not watched yet. How do I get them back w/o paying again?

thx all

Contact iTunes store support and explain to them what happened. They may be willing to authorize you to download them again or give you credits that you can use to rent them again.

Also, I'm not sure what kind of movies you're having trouble syncing, but rental movies don't sync like other content does. You can use iTunes to move a rental movie between iTunes, an ATV or an iPod/iPhone, but a rental movie can only be on one device at a time, and you can't move it once you've started watching it (it may get deleted if you try).

I am facing the same problem just in the last few days. I have 'ripped' a couple of my own purchased DVD's using Handbrake so I can enjoy on demand on my Apple TV, yet despite following the process I always use they will not sync.

I have checked and unchecked selections in iTunes and even deleted unwanted movies and nothing is syncing despite telling me its doing just that all day!

I've also tried changing the configuration in iTunes ATV from Auto sync, Custom sync and even "show only the synced items on my ATV" and that's not working either.

Until now everything had been great and synced well - not aware I have done anything different - HELP?

OK good point but I know that is not the issue - yes and I also know about 'ripping' discussions disappearing. So now I just rebooted the ATV and have the Port 36xx issue happen - another thread....

....having said that - low and behold my missing movies are now syncing...as I type?!?!?!?

Don't know why but FYI... I wrote my first response above.. I rebooted the ATV (plug out and in again!), waited, booted iTunes, Port 3689 issue... started writing this thread - went to check what the port message was and now syncing... all in the last 15 mins or so.

Like I said before… the movies in question are a mishmash of purchased. ripped and downloaded. They were syncing before, but not now. What really adds to the mystery, is that one - and only one - movie of my own making does sync, but only if I tick "SELECT: ALL MOVIES"

The Port 3689 is intriguing. how would I address this if it is the problem? I shall try rebooting now.

No sync and no error messages, what could be more fun?

Select one of the movies that won't sync, right-click on it, delete it from the library list but click on the "Keep Files" button when you get the delete warning dialog box.

Once you've done that, close iTunes and then open it again, wait for the Apple TV to reconnect and finish any syncing that may occur, then import the previously deleted file back into iTunes. If that works, you may have a corrupted file list or data file in your iTunes library, in which case you may need to repeat that procedure for each file that won't sync.

If that doesn't work, you may have data corruption on your ATV, which would be harder to deal with. You've already done a factory restore, which I would have expected to clear that kind of problem, but it didn't. If you absolutely can't clear the problem with any of the suggestions you've followed here, I'd say it's time to give AppleCare a call.
