Anyone Found a Way to View Silverlight 2?
I first noticed a move by some content providers to MS Silverlight on the MLB.com website. I installed Silverlight 1 and can now view most of the free content on MLB.com (I do not subscribe to the pay service).
Then I noticed that NBC was putting its Olympic website video on in Silverlight 2. This requires an Intel Mac so all of us with PPC Macs were excluded.
Then came the Democratic Convention. Of course I could watch all the coverage I wanted to on TV, but the website video allowed one to catch up on any speech or event they might have missed. Turns out they were using MS Silverlight 2.
These are three pretty big outfits that have moved toward MS Silverlight. The ability to view video, being such a huge part of today's internet, is rapidly becoming indispensible. It's frustrating to hear a colleague talk about the Olympic video he viewed online with his run of the mill PC and I'm unable to do the same with my PPC iMac. I had thought that my PPC iMac running Tiger was a long way from being obsolete, but I'm beginning to wonder now.
Any thoughts or solutions? Has anyone found a way to view the "forbidden fruit" of MS Silverlight 2 using a PPC Mac? Thanks.
Regards,
Steve M.
