Time Capsule Wireless Speed Issues - Fixed

Since the last update to my TC (7.3.2) the wireless download speed has degraded to almost a tenth of the speed I used to get (testing through speedtest.net, ~10,000kbps to ~1,000kbps!).

This renders my TC almost entirely useless; streaming any media is a waste of time and forget doing a backup over wireless.

Having read the many posts on this forum; I've tried everything from disabling WDS for my AE, changing the mulitcast rate and the wireless channel. None of them have done anything.

However, disabling security has. I'm now getting ~10,000kbps again. I've tried switching between WPA and WEP and both result in terrible download rates.

This is far from ideal, but it does go towards fixing this mess - I hope. For now at least I can secure my network by MAC and disable broadcasting of my SSID.

Anyone else having issues give this a try and post your results.

I have same problem. I have Time Capsule 500GB version. TC is set with 5GHz WIFI using WPA2 encryption. I was able to watch films directly through Wifi, now - it is unbearable. I get same speed only if I connect Ethernet cable and disable Airport.

Tested by disabling Wifi encryption (no security) - managed to get high transfer speed as before this issue happened.

Is it after upgrading to 10.5.5 or is it after updating Airport on my MacBookPro, my transfer speed dropped 10 folds at least. It is impossible.

Help and advice would be appreciated, as I do not want to run Wifi without any protection. Filtering MAC address is not good enough.

APPLE, please fix your issues, so we could again use products that we paid for :-|

Have you tried rolling-back the v7.3.2 firmware update?

It is easy to roll-back the firmware. Open Airport Utility, click on the AirPort Utility menu, with Option key held down, click 'Check for Updates', then tick '<your model TC> 7.3.1', and click download.

Now, select your TC in Airport Utility and click 'Manual Setup'. Under the 'Summary' tab click on 'Version 7.3.2' and select 'Upload 7.3.1'. Follow instructions and your TC will restart with v7.3.1.

Ignore the Upgrade to 7.3.2 notices until new firmware is released by Apple - you can turn off check for updates in AirPort Utility preferences.
