Google map does not recognize coordinates in links

When touching a google map link such as
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=37.749420,-121.958588
in any iphone application it correctly launches the google map application but does not recognize the coordinates. The very same link works correctly in pc based google maps. This looks like a major flaw which prevents using location links in iphone, yet I am surprised I did not find any discussion about this issue.

So no one else noticed this issue?? It is very easy to check, just click on the link from a computer vs iphone to see what I am talking about.
One of the main use for the google map feature could be to find a place via a link, si I find it hard to believe that no one else is bothered about it...

Well, it appears to be a bug in the Google Maps App. I tried your URL and got a map of the Indian Ocean. However, zooming the map as big as I could, I found a red pin in San Ramon, CA. It looks like the coordinates are located accurately, but the map is not centering on those coordinates.

This would be a good subject for http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.htm

Thanks for the replies and confirming it is a bug. I tried it with the latest version released today and still the same. I just sent a feedback, let's hope it will be fixed. Meanwhile the suggestion to zoom out to find the pin is a great workaround.

I did not have this problem until the 2.1 update. Map links work on my Mac, but when I try them on the iPhone, it opens the map app as expected, but regardless of the coordinates, it always zooms into the ocean just off of the African coast. I have tried several GPS coordinates that worked before, but they all put me in the ocean off of Africa. Annoying!!
