itunes store connection issues: error (-3234)

Hi,
I am having problems accessing iTunes store. I have an apple ID, but i cannot register my iPod or create a store account, or even get into the store itself. Every time I try to access the iTunes store i get the following message:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An known error occured (-3234).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
I have run the diagnostics; my network connection is activem, an supposedly i should be able to access the store. Here is a copy of the diagnostic results:

I'm having a similar problem which has only started happening as of last night. iTunes is working fine except that I can't access the Store. It's giving me the error: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again." However I'm not running Windows but Leopard 10.5.4 and the version of iTunes is 7.7.1. My Internet connection is fine otherwise I wouldn't be posting this to the forum.

Is the iTunes Store down? Any help would be appreciated.
