iPod Touch hang

I'm having this exact same problem. Its happened twice before and I got it to work again, but not this time. I can't remember what I did to make it work. Plus what I can remember is not working. So frustrating!

try putting your ipod touch into dfu mode by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 10 seconds, then let go of the sleep/wake button (make sure it is connected to your computer) and continue to hold the home button for 10 to 15 seconds or until itunes reads it as an ipod touch in recovery mode that needs to be restored, if you need more help on this just go to youtube and type in dfu mode in the search field

But doesn't that erase all of the settings? I don't have a recent backup.

yes it does, but once you get to the "apple of death" or stuck at the apple screen this is the only way out
