Compatability with Altec Lansing inMotion player

Hi guys,
I am thinking of switching to the iPod fifth generation, but I have some concerns. Will the 60GB or 30GB iPod fit into my Altec Lansing player? I use the Altec Lansing inMotion IM3c.

I need to know if it will fit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Matthew,
I do have that unit and it fits perfect. I use it every night. I am thinking I should be able to view a movie while docked in the Imotion and be able to hear without headphones. I will let you know after I try it. The sound is incredible. I love the 5g. The video output is so clear. It is actually better than my TV. It definatley makes people wonder when you are laughing at your hand and they have no idea why.

I have the same question as I too own a 4th gen (and an IM3) and am considering a 5th gen (30gig).
The following link says that the IM3 was made for the 3rd & 4th gen ipods.
Over time, not having an ipod sitting properly in the IM3 can only lead to unnecessary wear on the docking connector of the ipod.
I'm planning to contact Altec Lansing to see if they will offer adapters and will post the info when I get it. The IM3 is one of the better mid-range prices speakers available that also has battery power as an option.

Following up on my previous post:

Altec Lansing customer support told me today that they are to come out with an adapter for the Nano first and sometime in the future should make an adapter for the 5th gen ipods to fit the IM3. For now, they said only the IM3c version will work with the 5th gen ipods.

I had pointed out to the person I spoke with that there appeared to be a lot of 5G ipod owners not wanting to replace expensive speakers for lack of an adapter. So, based on the age of a persons' IM3, Altec Lansing may exchange an IM3 for an IM3c--as they are doing for me. Now that's customer service!

Hi--
How can you tell if you have an IM3 or an IM3c? I'm in the same dilemma regarding upgrading to a 5G iPod.
Thanks!
Sharon
