HP 1015 connected to Print server won't work- please help!

It seems like this is a common problem, but I am in an office and myself and a colleague share an HP Laserjet CM1015 printer via a (horrible) Sitecom LN-308 USB Printer Server via Ethernet - because the company are too mean to buy a proper ethernet printer? Dunno, but it was bought without my Mac in mind- dispite that the Mac can 'see' both the Sitecom AND the printer- but then nothing happens.

Unfortunately one thing is for sure, that this Mac is looking really bad in front of his ghastly HP XP-based PC, as he has >no< problems getting his PC to print- my Mac is sporadic to say the least, and this could be a make or break moment when I have to obtain a PC, which I am going to great lengths to try and avoid.

Sorry for the 'big picture', but I am at a complete loss (and at the end of my tether) on how to get my Mac to print. To be fair, it will print, but usually only when my buddy turns his computer on- and even then it's sporadic.

Can anyone suggest a possible fix?

The printer driver comes up as "sitecommfp-98-usb1" and its IP address is: 192.168.1.64
My IP address is: 192.168.1.97 (DHCP)
My office buddy's IP address; 192.168.1.96 (DHCP)

I'm also using a GIMP-print driver (installed this morning- didn't make any difference though 😟

Keep in mind that there was an auto-setup program for the PC - there isn't for Macs. We just need to know what to look for in the manual. The LPD and IPP protocols usually require the correct queue name be entered. I think it's usb1 in this case. The HP Jetdirect protocol is called raw port 9100 printing in Windows-centric manuals. Since it uses a port number (9100), it doesn't use queue name.
