Q: Pismo Start-Up Problems
I bought a Pismo, which worked beautifully. I believe everything on it was stock, except it was running 10.2.x and did NOT have a OS 9 system folder. There was a CD drive in the expansion bay (and still is, I don't have a clue how to remove it). On day 1 I downloaded OpenOffice and ran AppleUpdate on most important/useful looking things. My HDD free space was hovering around 2 gigs (out of 10) or so. On day 2 I drove to Starbucks to happily study with my new laptop (and I'd like to think that I didn't damage the laptop during transit, I certainly don't remember anything like that), and I got a flashing question mark on a folder icon when I booted it.
I don't have any system disks, and I was hoping to resolve this quickly (read: sans looking for a thrifty, obsolete copy of OS X and waiting for the mail), so I got a copy of DiskWarrior 4 from a friend. I booted DiskWarrior, and it doesn't see my drive (or I'm a moron who can't use DiskWarrior, but the drop down menu only shows the Disk Warrior boot CD, and I've looked through everything)!
So, sorry to yell "Help!" to forum gurus....but, help? If DW doesn't see the drive, would it even be worth it to spend money on a copy of OS X? Is it likely that the HDD is physically damaged beyond repair? On that tangent, can one of these computers boot off of a HDD in the expansion bay?
Thanks in advance,
-Peter
