purchased songs from iTunes under different account

I apparently purchased a some songs from iTunes a few years ago with a different account. Now, I can't play these songs on my new macbook pro. Authorization doesn't work when using my new e-mail. The old e-mail (.mac) was dropped. Any suggestions?

Welcome To The Discussion Boards Dr.Probst.

Admittedly, I'm not real techno savvy at this stage of my experience, so maybe someone will have a clever something for you to do... but my guess would be either:

1.) There's nothing to be done.

UNLESS (qualified with a big 'maybe')

2.) You had some kind of a back up of those songs. Did you? And if so, where?

Hopefully, someone who knows definitively will drop in and let us both know.

Assuming you know the password, you can still use the iTunes account associated with the dropped .mac address. And you can have up to five accounts authorized for a particular copy of iTunes, so you should be all set.

That said, my wife purchased one song with an iTunes account she made with a 90-day .mac address. iTunes claims that there's no such account, and for one song it's not worth calling customer support. In your case it might be worth calling -- Apple's customer support is fantastic, once you get through to them.
