French accents

Hi everyone I just got my first MacBook on 2 days ago and with it iWork. However every now and then I need to type in french and don't know how to put the accents on in pages. Does anyone know the keyboard shortcuts for them?

Also is office better for typing in other languages?

thanks

Here is a full list:

You can also activate a French keyboard layout via system prefs/international/input menu.

No. Apple (and other) apps can handle various languages that are not supported at all by Office for Mac.

If you have any specific questions are typing various languages, feel free to ask.

Yes however I have a British keyboard not a US keyboard and they don't work for me.

Apple has patented a solution to this shortcoming (which in point of fact dates back to the Apple Lisa in 1983 and the Apple Macintosh in 1984). The solution is to support key graphics dynamically in software instead of supporting key graphics statically in hardware. In other words, when one picks a writing system, the key graphics change to match the writing system one selects. When this is implemented in product, it will be an improvement.

*Option/alt + `, then e. don't know where ` is but i do know where it is on a windows keyboard*

` is the key immediately above the tab key on the left of the keyboard.

I use both the Australian and USA keyboards and they are identical to the English one except possibly for the £ symbol which is option 3 on my keyboard but may be elsewhere on yours.

Which was the one you couldn't find? ç which is option c?

my ` key is next to the left shift button I think that Apple have designed a new keyboard.

That's the ISO keyboard often used in Europe. It has one more key than the ANSI keyboard used in the US.

But what about: ç

As it says in the link that I gave you earlier: Option/alt + c.

and also the one where in Spanish you have a squiggly line above n?

As it says in the link that I gave you earlier: Option/alt + n, then n.
