Album Art Solution

I have read a number of posts here about the inability of iTunes to display album art for anything but music purchased thru iTunes. I have come up with a solution for Windows users: I imported a few of my CDs and then went to the All Music Guide website (allmusic.com). I then looked up the CDs I had just imported and then right clicked on the image of the CD cover and selected 'copy'. I then opened iTunes selected all the tracks in that particular CD and right-clicked again on 'Get Info'. I then right-clicked on the 'Artwork' square and pasted.

I hope this works for some of you. Actually, I just hope it makes sense to some of you. I did notice that the image is not quite as clear as the iTunes artwork, but it looks good enough for me. I also first tried Amazon.com but they sometimes put little "such and such % off" stickers over the album art. Allmusic.com is the best I have found so far.

There are a few other 'software' solutions that I have tried that work well. eyeJamz and iArt. Both will search for all the album art for every song in your iTunes library and then update each of the songs with the album art. iArt also searches for lyrics and will update the songs in the library with lyrics. Both are shareware and are around $10 to purchase. When you have a few hundred albums to add art to, I found the $10 to be well worth the investment.

with itunes art update running you highlight a song in your library, click on the maginfying glass icon and the updater searches amazon for the album cover, based on the artist and album info you have in your itunes library. Sometimes there are multiple covers (different countries I guess??)click the album cover you want and it is put in your library.

Thanks so much. Although I love my new g5 ipod...my first one, It will be nice to see the album art. I first purcahsed the Philips HDD6330 because I didn't want an ipod(like everyone else). While the philips unit was waay cool and also had a radio tuner it was impossible to get any pictures on it at all...but it did show the album art. But as I have discovered as many others have..my ipod has worked very well up to this point exept for being able to view album art. And the sound quality is awesome. I am a part time photgrapher and love the larger screen but probaly won't use the video much but I am curious to see how that works too! I will let you know how your advice works out. Again thanks for the help!!!
