Can't copy because the names are too long !

Question

Can't copy because the names are too long !

I can't save on my internal 2nd hd because of an unidentified error and I can't even copy onto it because "their names are too long for the destination"
Ran disk util and Tech Tool Pro but it doesn't help
Any ideas ?

You may have an illegal character in the name. Don't use...

/ \ or :

If any of those characters are in your file names, replace them with something else, like...

- or _
