black box appears on my screen

When I type on the screen a black box is highlighted. How do I get rid of this?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Thanks, this worked for me. I searched and searched through System Preferences and couldn't find this. A curious question, is this 'function' mention anywhere in OS X's documentation?

Yes, it's called VoiceOver, and you can find it in >System Preferences...>Universal Access>Seeing tab.

THANKS FOR THIS QUESTION...I had the same thing and was wigging out..I thought it was a "virus"!!!!
How does this happen? Also I just purchased MAC SCAN 2 just to be on the safe side. Anyone have any comments about it?

Don't waste your money on mac virus software-there are no mac viruses.
If you want to stop yourself from passing on windows viruses to your friends, use the free ClamXav.

It happened because you accidently typed the keyboard shortcut (cmd-F5). See the Universal Access preference pane...
