No Video on Xserve Intel

I have an Xserve Intel (Early 2008) that will not display video. When I first set up the server I could not get the video working either but after a few days of just leaving it on, the video suddenly came to life. It was never powered down. I have moved the server to a different location and the same thing has occurred. Is there some trick to get the video to work?

XServe, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Hi

No special tricks and apart from a slight delay at the start it should work. It's possible the mezzanine card has worked itself loose? Slide the top panel off and make sure it's seated properly or take it out and re-seat it. Be firm with it but don't be too robust. Clearly shut the XServe down first.

Well, reseating the mezzanine card didn't help. The Xserve powered back on with no video just as it had been doing. For some reason I thought to stick the server install DVD back in the machine and recycle the power. The video came back to life. Why? I have no idea. At least I'm back up and running now.
