Pages Auto Fill

Hi Everyone,
I have looked in help with no luck. Is there anyway to insert frequently used text without having to type it each time?
It would really save a lot of time.
Thanks
Paul

There are several multiple-clipboard apps but they usually cycle through a larger number of copies of clipboards which will still be ultimately lost once you have exhausted the total number.

I use Jumpcut [http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21604/jumpcut] but there is also:

[http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10744/iclip] and

There are also utilities that will expand on set acronyms or abreviations so you don't have to type the material in full. Great for common expressions, names or addresses.

Look for these at [http://www.macupdate.com] or [http://www.versiontracker.com]

You can use a TextEdit or similar document and use drag and drop which is an excellent method because it is fast and visual so you can see what it is you are getting. The advantage this has over your Pages document is that you can chose whether the dragged in text keeps its formatting or uses the formatting of the text it is being dragged into.

If you select text in a document and drag it to your desktop they form a "clipping" of just that text. These can be appropriately labeled and dragged back into wherever you want as well.

Hey Taz,

While the above responses are very helpful, I personally don't like having to switch applications to copy and paste.
Right within Pages Preferences>Auto-Correction, you can add your own "commonly used" words and phrases. I have a soccer school and instead of writing the name "Just4Kicks-Sacramento" I just type in "j4ks" then space and it fills it in for me. Is that what you are looking for? It sure sounds like it.
I also use it for addresses and the like. I use "adr" for the address of the my biz and "csz" for the City, State and zip, which them fills in for me.

I hope I have been of some help.

Adam- great usage of a feature expressed only as an "auto-corrector." Quite clever. I like it. 🙂

Taz- You may not find the phrase "commonly used" anywhere in the Auto-correction.... just make sure you check off the box that says "Symbol and text substitution." Then click the plus at the bottom left and go nuts!
Alongside the above-mentioned method, there's a program that you can buy called TextExpander that will also do the job quite universally across many applications. It's about $30. I have found it VERY worth the cost, personally. This isn't an Apple product, however, and not something built into Pages, so may not be what you're looking for.
