I just bought a batch of Memorex "Black" CD-R. However, when I put the disc in for the computer to read, it will whiz around for a few seconds and boot it out as if it was not being read. These cd's work on my PC laptop, and yet after I burned one of these discs on this PC it still does not read on my mac. Is there something different about the black cd's? It reads all other CD-R discs I have tried.
Unfortunately, I do not have the answer, but I have the exact same problem. Purchased the black Memorex CD-R 50 pack. The CD whizzes around and then ejects.

I have the same problem. PC reads them, Mac wont. What's the deal Apple????????
Most failures to read a blank CD have to do with a drive's basic incompatibility with the media. The usual recommendation is to try a different brand or type of media. I'd note that many brands source from different manufacturers and one that works may not be the same as one from the same brand that might not work.
Im using my Vista laptop to burn and then im trying to use my IBM at work to transfer from the black CD-r to flash drive so that i can get the .jpg on my Macbook air. My laptop burnt and reads the CD fine. but im stuck at work trying to boot it up.
It's something with the color black for sure. I had a few of those Memorex black CD-R's and my macbook would not read them either. They work fine in other computers I have that aren't mac's 🙂 Nobody seems to know why, but I can firmly attest they wont work. Go buy some new CD-R's that aren't black 🙂 The gold, silver and purple ones are always nice!
