The AC adapter plugs in to the eft side of my 17" MBP...so that would interfere. But otherwise, if it's comfortable for you, then do it!

I'd be concerned about the stress you are probably putting on the hinge and the LCD. The stress on the LCD doesn't have to be terribly great for it to start showing up as odd colors and luminesces. Rather than take a risk with such an expensive piece of equipment, consider other options.
