PCMWave file

Does anyone know what the PCMWave file is for, I fond this when doing some clean up.
The file is 662MB and is located in system/library/speech/voices/alex.speechvoice/contents/resources.
When I open the file it appears to just random character.
Is this file needed or is it safe to delete it - thanks.

Don't mess with it. It's used for built in voices in your Mac and is used with other apps. Not a good idea mucking around in system folder unless you know exactly what you are doing!

One example of someone who did delete the file

Hi-
I found this file that was 600mb.
Google told me I didnt need it. So I deleted it. (Error!)
Anyway I do - as skype now crashes.
The file was pcmwave and i think it was the alex voice.
How do I gwt it back - I have the leopard disk
thanks
