iSync conduit will not synchronize with Palm Desktop hotsync

Unable to sync my Palm Tungston T3 with Address Book & iCal in my PowerBook
G4. All had worked fine when running Tiger. Problem started after upgrade to Leopard 10.5.4.

I am running Palm Desktop 4.2.1 and have performed a reset iSync information on PowerBook, my MobileMe account and the Palm T3.

The log after attempted sync of Address Book and iCal shows:

Loading “Apple”
Conduit “iSync Conduit” version 3.0.0
Sync type is Fast
iSync Conduit starting 9/6/08 11:47:24 AM
Timeout waiting for Sync Engine, exiting 9/6/08 11:52:47 AM
iSync Conduit synchronization failed
“iSync Conduit” failed (error = #-1)

I’m sure I have put in all the correst settings on the software. I have tried turning on and turning off “Force slow synchronization”

I hope apple comes out with a fix with 10.5.5 but
I need this info in my PDA now – any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Copern

I have a similar problem. I'm using Palm OS 4.2.1, Mac OS 10.5.4. and iSync 3.0.2. I have completed all the steps in the "How to set up a USB Palm OS device to sync with your computer" (modified 8/7/08) and yet, when I try to sync the ical data to my Palm IIIc, the sync appears to happen (arrows spinning), but no data transfers.

The HotSync log on my ibook (Intel duo core) says: "iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting..."

On the Palm IIIc, the Hot Sync log says: "OK" for Install, iSync Conduit, Voice Memo, Note Pad, Memo Pad and Install.

In iSync on my ibook, I do see the Palm icon in the iSync window.

I initiate the sync from my Palm cradle.

I recently signed up for the free trial of MobileMe, and then cancelled.

Would love to be able to sync my iCal and Contacts to my Palm, but something's wrong.

any ideas?

Thanks

Theknitster,

Have you gone over to the Palm forums and asked about the message you are receiving? They are very helpful. I do not know about the Palm IIIc but I have synced my Palm Zire with the computer.

Look carefully at your conduits in Hot Sync Manager and make sure you have them all defaulting to the action you want to happen.

What should happen is that after you have the latest Palm Desktop software and start again from the top, you'll get past the messages you are receiving now.

My experience with MobileMe is that it works. But, to accomplish the initial sync, I turned it off while I forced the slow sync through iSync. SyncSErvices, which I think is the brains behind all of the syncing is always on. But other than that, mobileme/.mac are just some other pieces under that larger program.

Hope this helps.

best regards, ec

ec: Thank you for your reply. I will check out the Palm forums and see what they have to say.

I have looked carefully at the conduits and they say "synchronize." As I do the sync, I see items flashing by, as in a normal sync, showing what's being transferred, etc., but nothing really is being transferred. Both the computer and the Palm are exactly the same afterwards.

I ran a software update just this morning and I appear to have the latest everything, so it's a mystery.

Thanks for trying to help.
