How to import from a Sony DCR-TRV460

The OneStep from camera feature in iDVD ONLY works with miniDV cameras.

The USB feature of your camera is only for stills.(or as a web cam on PCs).

You need to use the DV (IEEE1394) output - also known as Firewire to bring your movie content into iMovie first.

Yes Your Camera has FireWire:

Connector Type 1 x IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.LINK), 1 x Composite video/audio (input/output), 1 x USB, 1 x S-Video input / output, 1 x DC power input

You need a 4-pin to 6-pin FireWire Cable. Never bi-packed with Camera.
Has to be bought separately.

I would dump full movie into iMovie (eg iM v6) then just Close iMovie and Save
if asked.

Now locate Your movie project - icon with a Star on it.

Open iDVD
Set view to box-diagram (button under iDVD viewer window).
Now drop the icon with a Star into the upper left most box.

If You burn this You get an auto-starting DVD that plays Your
full tape/movie as if OneStep-DVD (I think)

Cons: It will end with the menu window which iDVD started with OR if You
selected any other one.
