Trade 20 GB for Video???

I was wondering if I could trade in my 20GB (noncolor) iPod for a 30 GB Video iPod @ any Apple Store? Is this possible? They are the same price at $299 and i bought this iPod in Febuary 2005 so my 1 year warranty is still good. Does anyone know? :/ Thanks.

Hello Niraj, welcome to discussions.

There is no way you will get an even swap if you want to trade in your 20GB non-color iPod for a new 5th Generation iPod.

Some Apple stores (maybe all of them, I'm not sure on that) will give you 10% off your iPod purchase by trading in your old iPod using their "recycling" program. So, you might get a 10% discount on a new iPod, but that's about it.

You're probably better off selling your 20GB on eBay and using that money to purcahse a new iPod. You'll probably get more on eBay than the 10% trade-in value at Apple.

Thanks for your response, I would rather keep my 20 GB since it's only 7 months old insteaad of getting 10% on a 30GB Video, I feel that is the best way to go. Although my friend bought his iPod @ Best Buy and he had a warranty on it that Best Buy offered and he traded his photo iPod for the video with no charge... interesting.

But still... with a one year warranty why aren't I able to get a new 30 GB... makes no sense. And then waiting for the battery to die ( In 2 years or so ) Apple has the program of shipping the iPod to Apple for 65.99 and 5.95 fot S + H do they give you the 30 GB? Just some questions...

Just interests, how and where did you get that old model 20GB non-color for $299 in Feb. 2005?

1 year Warranty does not mean "Price guarantee" for 1 year.
(Bestbuy has 30-day price guarantee.)

Under 1 year warranty, you can get your iPod repaired if it is manufacturing defective. If Apple cannot repair your iPod, then Apple will give you same "new" or "refurbished" 20GB iPod.

ok enough BS, just sell the old ipod on ebay or give it to your mom and buy a new 5g 30gb ipod..u can get 10% off the new ipod by putting the school u go to + theres a bunch of $30 dollar off coupons for sale on ebay.bottom line you will save like 60 bucks + you will have the money you made off the old ipod..consider it traded _
