I would be interested also as I just received my universal dock with Apple remote and with my 160Gb Classic iPod when I press menu I don't get anything changing either. My dock is also plugged into the PC but I don't see how that should make a difference? Maybe I'll try my iPhone 3G tonight and see if that behaves any differently.
Nah, impossible, they sell this remote with the dock, it's got a Menu button just like the iPod, so that's what this is for.
Maybe we have faulty devices.
The universal dock has nothing to do with Frontrow.
I'm simply telling you that the menu button on the remote only controls Frontrow (it's the same remote you get with a Mac) and does not control the menu on the iPod.
Wow. So, they sell it with a device that is made for iPods.
They put a button on it that reads "Menu", just like the button on the iPod, but doesn't provide the same function, in fact, no function at all, while it would be great if it HAD this function.
Interesting. I don't think even Microsoft would dare to pull this one off.
It's tricky, but anyone who can sell me this non functional button as a "feature, not a bug" is definetely on their way to a great career start...salesman, Apple spokesperson, politics 😉
