Getting error message when updating to 2.1

Anyone else having a problem updating to 2.1? iTunes tells me 2.1 is available and then when I click download and install I get the error message "the requested resource was not found."

same here. i was able to download it the first time around, but my ipod did not update to 2.1, it just stayed at 2.0.2.

Mine just tells me I need to update iTunes to 7.7.1 before I can update my touch. This would be easy if I didn't already have 7.7.1.11.

hmmm... just checked again and iTunes said that 2.0.2 is the most recent version. i'm starting to have flashbacks to the 2.0 update 😟

i can't even restore it! the same error comes up! guess i'll just have to wait this issue out too.

Yep. Same here. Same 7.7.1 error, but then I manually downloaded iTunes 8 from Apple's regularly scheduled link and then got the "resource not found" error.

Bummer!

if you have to restore because your iPod Touch is bricked right now: shift-click the restore-button and locate your last downloaded restore-file

Same problem. Using iTunes 8.0, it shows ipod touch firmware version 2.1 as the newest version, but has an error when trying to update to it.

Same here, i also get the error message when trying to update to ipod touch 2.1 using itunes 8.0.

Has anyone managed to update their 1st generation ipod touch successfully?

Just to feel the support of those around you, I too have the same problem, i manually downloaded itunes 8, and now the requested resource was not found, anyone call apple yet?

I've been getting the "resource not found" error message for several hours since updating to iTunes 8.0. My guess is that Apple has not made the "resourse" available yet.

Or perhaps the demand is so big that some people just have to stay out of the queue for a while. Whatever the cause is, I think we just should wait 🙂

I am having the same problem too. My guess is it isn't online yet. The iPhone update isn't supposed to be available until Friday, maybe it will be the same with the touch.

Any Luck? I have the same problem like everyone else, I had to manually download iTunes 8 and my iTouch says software 2.0.2 when it states a new software is available? I paid the $10!
