Just updated my iTunes as well and tried using Airtunes to connect to my AppleTV (v 2.0) and I got the error message "An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Apple TV". An unknown error occurred (-15000).". I tried the repair permissions trick you mentioned and that did not help. I also have an older G4 that has the previous version of iTunes on it and it is able to connect to the Apple TV via Airtunes and play music...

Get the same error message (-3256). I have gotten the same before when trying to swith speakers through the remote app on iPhone if this is a help for anyone (at that time it was no probs changing in iTunes). I have checked all as mention in this discussion and even checked that the streaming works fine with airfoil. I'm curently using mac os X 10.4.11 and iTunes 8.0 ofcourse and the older airport express version 6.3.
