Apple TV Visualizer?

Hey,

After downloading ITunes 8 and being mesmerized by the visualizer, I was wondering why Apple TV doesn't have the visualizer option as a screensaver? It would be great as a backdrop for parties and would save me the hassle of connecting my comptuer to my tv.

Anyone have any info on this?

Having just been prompted by your post, I've just checked the new visualizer. Stunning!

In answer to your question.... Apple always ensures that it's products have some sort of differentiator between them. This means that the TV is unlikely to get this fantastic bit of technology.

Thanks for the heads up...too bad. I hope Apple finds a way to fix this, short of releasing a new model of ATV...

I know it's a small thing for them to worry about, but it's just so cool! 🙂

AppleTV isn't really powerful enough to render state of the art visualisers in high resolution - I'm sure it could run some kind of visualiser but the hardware really isn't that powerful and RAM is quite limited.

I absolutely agree!! I'd totally be prompted to have my AppleTV on more if this was an option and surprised something similar hasn't been introduced already. I can already see this feature alone being a selling point simply for the hypnotizing aspect!

so, i was searching for an appletv visualizer as well, came across this post, checked out the itunes 8 new visualizer and just blew 40 minutes staring at it... cool!

Perhaps future versions of AppleTV will have a bit more power/ram considering the fast changing pace of electronic media and overhead and bandwidth required to play/stream that media, making it a future capability.

I had a party over the weekend and it would have been sweet to have the visualizer up instead of some dumb pictures i took last year 😮

I take the point about the hardware probably not being capable, but we should still make this request of Apple officially and see what their response is. What's the best way to do that?

Hi,

I also was disappointed to see that the visualizer was not available on the Apple TV. I managed to get a similar effect by streaming from my PowerBook to the Apple TV from iTunes and connecting the display of the laptop to my TV screen. Woks fine.

The Apple TV plays 720p video, I would expect it surely can show the latest visualizer.
(My MPB uses about 60% of CPU for 720p and about 40-50% for the visualizer)
