ITunes 8 Upgrade Results in 5002 unknown Error when trying to update Apps

iTunes 8 reports that I have apps with updates available. When trying to update them I get this error:

We could not complete your iTunes Store Request.
An unknown error occurred (5002).

There was an error in the Itunes Store. Please try again later.

I got this error once, I also received some download errors when attempting to download some HD TV shows, I refreshed and that solved that problem. I have also noticed that download times are really horrible. It has taken me all day to download 10 Battlestar HD episodes. BTW...I have paused all of the SD accompanying downloads too.

Yup, exact same problem for me. Googled up the error and have tried every method outlined so far with zero results. So I guess this is yet another form of 5002 error. Who wants to start the countdown for iTunes 8.01?

Most solutions seem to revolve around songs stuck in the shopping card. Only problem for me is that I've never used the shopping card. I've always used 1-Click.

Very annoying bug...

Here is what I did:

Look at the App Store on the phone and see what needs to be updated. Go back to iTunes and delete the Applications (I told it to trash it). Go into the iTunes Store and find the applications you just deleted. "Purchase" them again and it should download the latest version. No, you will not be charged again if you purchased it already. You can probably also do a "Check for Available Downloads" after you delete it instead of going through the purchasing process.

This is just a workaround. I'm not sure if subsequent updates will work or not. It may be that each app needs to be deleted and re-downloaded for updates to work.

Same here, and I think I've found a work-around.

Tried ejecting the iphone, restarting itunes, and reconnecting the phone but that did not clear the problem.

Then I went to the itunes store and selected "account". It said I had 11 downloads available. I selected "download now" and it downloaded a bunch of apps (presumably the updates).

From itunes when I select applications, and then the "updates available" link at the bottom I still get the error, but I believe those downloads updated my apps.
